The present structure was dedicated on September 22, 1974 . The dedication speaker was Charles Kuralt, well known to CBS audiences for his "On the Road" series of unusual stories gathered from the back roads of America. In November, 1974, Mrs. Mauguerite L. Waldman donated a David Cargill sculpture in memory of her husband, Mack B. Waldman. Situated on the wall over the elevator in the library’s entrance, the sculpture depicts the importance of literature and education.
The Beaumont Public Library building is a distinctively original design, emphasizing openness and light. It was designed by the architectural firm of Steinman, Gordy, and Huffhines. The structure is a multilevel, rectangular building with bronze heat-reducing glass walls that rise to the height of the roof. It is surrounded by a covered walkway bordered by columns which makes the building accessible to pedestrians from all sides. The building is handicapped accessible with an elevator.
